What started as a singular mission and a deep passion for giving back has grown into a steadfast commitment to our community. Our primary goal is simple yet powerful - to support the Richland Chambers Lake Area community.
Over the past 10 years, our core focus has been strengthening local Volunteer Fire Departments and ensuring they have the vital resources needed to protect and serve. Beyond that, we actively champion initiatives that bring our community together and drive meaningful change.

As the needs of Richland Chambers Lake continue to evolve, so will our commitment. We stand ready to serve—today, tomorrow, and for years to come.

Together, we fuel the fire of hope, growth, & unity within Richland Chambers Lake
Our History
Benefit RC began with a heartfelt idea from John and Julie Teel, owners of RE/MAX Lakeside Dreams, who have proudly served the Richland Chambers Lake area for over 15 years.
After a health scare while fishing on the lake, they recognized the urgent need for well-equipped local emergency responders. That moment inspired the first annual Poker Run—a fun, meaningful way to support area volunteer fire departments and give back to the community they call home.

What started as a simple idea quickly grew. John and Julie established Benefit RC as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and their mission has expanded to include a dedicated board of volunteers, generous sponsors, and a passionate community that shows up year after year.

Today, Benefit RC stands as the first nonprofit of its kind in the area—proudly committed to supporting those who help keep Richland Chambers Lake safe.

Our local volunteer fire departments count on your support—whether it’s through participating in our events, donating items for the silent auction, or simply spreading the word. These brave men and women help keep our homes and families safe, and it’s our turn to give back. Volunteers and sponsorships are the heart of our success, and we’re always grateful for those who step up. Sponsoring is not only a great way to support a vital cause, but also a wonderful opportunity to promote your local business and show your commitment to the community. We’re now accepting silent auction items and sponsorships at both the north and south RE/MAX Lakeside Dreams offices—every contribution makes a difference.

Fuel the Firefighters benefit & poker run Over the years
2016-2017
In 2017, they worked with several local volunteers and local VFDs to plan a fun Poker Run on the lake to raise money for the different fire departments. With the huge success in 2024, the total raised so far is over $526,000 through the generosity of local businesses and residents.
2017-2022
Since its inception, this fundraiser has been considered a “highlight of the year.” The in-person Poker Run will once again start at The Harbor Restaurant with five designated stops on the lake that can easily be reached within a two-hour time frame. Participants will collect one token at each stop; Fisherman’s Cove Lodge, Fisherman’s Point Marina, and two floating stops; one on the north side of the 2859 bridge and the other near the 287 bridge. Once all tokens have been collected, participants will return to The Harbor Restaurant to receive their final token and then exchange all tokens to receive their “Poker Hand.” Each person’s hand will be recorded and a Leader Board will be posted. The restaurant’s new outdoor pavilion will be a wonderful venue for this popular event, as it will provide both shelter and a stage.

Anyone unable to participate in the poker run by boat may still register, pay the entry fee and receive a voucher to exchange for their hand.
2023-2024
For the 2023 Fuel the Firefighters Fundraiser, the $25 entry fee will include a brisket sandwich lunch (skillfully prepared by international barbecue legend, Kevin Bludso), the live and silent auctions and entertainment by The FOG, all of which will take place at The Harbor Restaurant and Marina. The silent auction will take place online, with bidding ending at the end of the event These items can also be viewed in person at the venue. A auctioneer will conduct a live auction from 1:30 to 2:30 on the day of the event.

The Fuel the Firefighters fundraiser gets folks out for some community fun, while benefiting the VFDs. You can “give where you live.” Each participant can designate which VFD gets the funds from their cash donations and entry fees, or split them up between all departments.
